  12. Here is your chance to play the demos of many of our games:

  15. * X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter
  16. * Jedi Knight
  17. * Curse of Monkey Island
  18. * Yoda Stories

  20. This readme contains directions for installing, launching,
  21. and uninstalling each of the demos on this CD.

  24. Installing The LucasArts Demos
  25. --------------------------------------
  26. NOTE: The LucasArts Demos on this CD require Windows 95.
  27.  
  28.  
  29. Demos Startup
  30. ---------------------
  31. The LucasArts Launcher allows you to install the demo programs 
  32. individually (see below for details on each demo) and to view 
  33. general Readme and troubleshooting information. Please see the 
  34. individual demos for Readme and Troubleshooting information for 
  35. each game.
  36.  
  37. Launcher Screen
  38. ---------------
  39. From the Launcher screen, you can access the individual demos,
  40. view Readme information or exit to Windows. The Launcher has
  41. the following buttons available:
  42. * Outlaws Demo
  43. * X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter Demo
  44. * Jedi Knight Demo
  45. * Curse of Monkey Island Demo
  46. * Yoda Stories Demo
  47. * View Readme 
  48. * Exit to Windows

  51. Installing and Running Individual Demos
  52. --------------------------------------- 
  53. Play any of the demos by following the directions below.
  54.  
  55. Installing the Outlaws Demo
  56. ---------------------------
  57. 1. Click the Outlaws Demo button on the Super Sampler Launcher
  58.    menu.
  59. 2. This takes you to the Installer screen: 
  60.    * Install Outlaws Demo
  61.    * View Troubleshooting Guide
  62.    * Exit to Windows
  63. 3. Click the Install Outlaws Demo button. Follow the onscreen
  64.    directions to install the demo. 
  65. 4. During installation, you will be prompted to choose to
  66.    install the single-player version or both single-and multi-
  67.    player versions. 
  68. 5. You will be prompted to install DirectX if it is not already
  69.    installed on your system.
  70. 6. Once the installation is complete, the Outlaws Demo Launcher
  71.    appears.

  73. Outlaws Demo Launcher
  74. ---------------------
  75. * Play Outlaws Demo-Click to play.
  76. * View Demo Readme-Click to view technical information.
  77. * Demo Troubleshooting-Click this button to get a sub-menu which
  78.   includes:
  79.   * Troubleshooting Guide-Click to read the troubleshooting
  80.     document.
  81.   * Change Sound Driver-Adjust the sound configuration.
  82.   * Change Video Driver-Adjust video configuration.
  83.   * Reinstall DirectX-Gives you another chance to install DirectX.
  84.   * Done-Closes the dialog box.
  85. * Select Video Mode for Demo Change video resolution or choose to
  86.   use a 3Dfx driver if you have it.
  87. * Uninstall Outlaws Demo Removes the program for your system.
  88. * Exit to Windows Returns you to the Windows desktop.

  90. Outlaws Demo Main Menu
  91. ----------------------
  92. * Main Game Selecting this option will begin the single player
  93.   adventure.
  94. * Multiplayer Game Selecting this option will bring you to the
  95.   Multiplayer Setup menu. This option is not available if you
  96.   did not install both single and multiplayer games at the
  97.   Outlaws Demo installation.
  98. * Historical Missions This option is not available in the demo.

  101. Installing the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter Demo
  102. ------------------------------------------
  103. 1. Click the Play X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter button in the Super
  104.    Sampler Launcher. 
  105. 2. Follow the onscreen directions to install the demo. 
  106. 3. During installation, you will be prompted to calibrate your
  107.    joystick. 
  108. 4. You will also be prompted to install DirectX if it is not
  109.    already installed on your system. 
  110. 5. When installation is complete, the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter
  111.    Demo Launcher will appear. 
  112.  
  113. NOTE: You must have a joystick installed for the game to work
  114.       properly. 
  115.  
  116. X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter Demo Launcher
  117. ------------------------------------
  118. * Play the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter Demo-Select this to play
  119.   the game. 
  120. * Calibrate Joystick Select this to calibrate your joystick.
  121. * Uninstall X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter Demo Click here to remove
  122.   the demo from your hard drive.
  123. * View Readme View technical information.
  124. * Exit to Windows Returns you to your desktop.

  127. Installing the Jedi Knight Demo
  128. -------------------------------
  129. 1. Click the Jedi Knight Demo button on the Super Sampler
  130.    Launcher menu.
  131. 2. This takes you to the Installer screen: 
  132.    * Install Jedi Knight Demo
  133.    * View Demo Readme
  134.    * View Demo Troubleshooting Guide
  135.    * Analyze your Computer
  136.    * Exit to Windows
  137. 3. Click the Install Jedi Knight Demo button. Follow the onscreen
  138.    directions to install the demo. 
  139. 4. You will also be prompted to install DirectX if it is not al-
  140.    ready installed on your system. 
  141. 5. Once the installation is complete, the Jedi Knight Demo Launcher
  142.    will appear.

  145. Installing The Curse Of Monkey Island Demo
  146. ------------------------------------------
  147. There is no installation for The Curse of Monkey Island Demo.
  148. When you click on Curse of Monkey Island Demo, it will take
  149. you to The Curse of Monkey Island Launcher menu.

  159. Installing the Yoda Stories Demo
  160. --------------------------------
  161. There is no installation for the Yoda Stories Demo.
  162.  
  163. 1. Click the Yoda Stories Demo button in the Super Sampler
  164.    Launcher menu to open the demo version of Yoda Stories. 
  165. 2. The game opens and you can start playing immediately. 
  166. 3. Make sure to click the black dot in the dialogue balloons
  167.    to close the balloon to start playing the game.
  168.  
  169. NOTE: Whenever you need assistance with gameplay, just go to
  170.       the Help menu on the menu bar. R2D2 can help you out
  171.       along the way also.

  173.  
  174. Uninstalling the Demos from your Computer
  175. -----------------------------------------
  176. Unless otherwise noted:
  177. 1. Click the Uninstall button in the games' Launcher menu to
  178.    remove the demo from your hard drive.
  179.

  182. 1. Select Settings from the Start menu
  183. 2. Click on Control Panel.
  184. 3. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
  185. 4. Highlight the name of the program that you want to uninstall.
  186. 5. Click the Add/Remove button, then click OK to confirm the
  187.    file deletion.
  188. 6. This will run the UnInstallShield. Click the OK button when
  189.    prompted.

  191. Uninstalling The Curse of Monkey Island and Yoda Stories Demos
  192. --------------------------------------------------------------
  193. These demos play off the CD-ROM, so they do not need to be
  194. removed from your hard drive.

  213. rights in the Software. You may use the Software on a 
  214. single computer. You may not: (1) copy (other than once

  216. all or any portion of the Software; (2) modify or prepare 
  217. derivative works of the Software; (3) transmit the Software 
  218. over a network, by telephone, or electronically using any

  229. LEC warrants to the original consumer purchaser that the 
  230. media furnished in this product will be free from defects in 
  231. materials and workmanship under normal use for a period 
  232. of ninety (90) days from the date of purchase (as evidenced 
  233. by your receipt). If the media supplied as part of this 
  234. product proves to be defective, and provided that the 
  235. consumer purchaser returns the media to LEC in 
  236. accordance with the instructions in this paragraph, LEC 
  237. will replace the defective media: (a) free of charge to the 
  238. consumer purchaser, if the media proves to be defective 
  239. within the ninety (90) day period following the date of 
  240. purchase, and (b) if the media proves to be defective after 
  241. the expiration of the ninety (90) day warranty period, LEC 
  242. will replace the defective media for a fee of $5.00 per 
  243. Compact Disc.  To obtain a replacement CD, please return 
  244. the CD only, postage prepaid, to LEC, at the address below, 
  245. accompanied by proof of date of purchase, a description of 
  246. the defect, and your name and return address. To replace 
  247. defective media after expiration of the warranty period, 
  248. send the CD only, postage prepaid, to LEC at the address 
  249. below, enclosing proof of purchase, a description of the 
  250. defect, your name and return address, and a check for $5.00 
  251. per Compact Disc. LEC will mail a replacement to you.

  253. You expressly acknowledge and agree that use of the 
  254. Software is at your sole risk.  Except for the limited ninety 
  255. (90) day warranty on the media set forth above, the 
  256. Software and any related documentation or materials are 
  257. provided "AS IS" and without warranty of any kind.  LEC 
  258. EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS AND IMPLIED,
  259. INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF 
  260. MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND
  261. NONINFRINGEMENT.  LEC DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE FUNCTIONS
